Reef Project's "Hydro Dynamic" released and reviewed on Progressivehouse.com

""Hydro Dynamic" by Thee-O's ambient alter ego, Reef Project, is now available. The album has getting a lot great feedback and reviews. It was recently reviewd on Progressivehouse.com and awaiting reviews from other sites. "Hydro Dynamic" is now available at Beatport, iTunes, Amazon and other retailers.

Progressivehouse.com Review:

New York based System Recordings and LA’s intrepid DJ Thee-O, in the guise of Reef Project, team up to bring us ”Hydrodynamic,” a cool chillout and downtempo album with an oceanic theme and a cinematic vibe.

The undersea journey begins with a soothing melodic, beatless intro, followed by the muted clicky rhythms and dreamy atmosphere of Tide Pools, a type of tune one might hear in contemporary film and game soundtracks. Already we’re offered a glimpse into the diverse soundscape cruise we're about to embark on. Spotted Drum brings in heavier percussive elements, but keeps things on a low-key edge. Some subtle hand drums, static laden synths, and circuit bent type action keep things moving along.

Peacock Flounder is a pretty dope downtempo breaks cut, featuring some bright arpeggios and haunting little melodies. Damsel is a really cool tune, perhaps in the vein of Sneaker Pimps, with an infectious bass groove and the excellent filtered vocals provided by Erin Powers. Cero is another neat downtempo breakbeat tune with some relaxing melodies and futuristic synthy pads. Later things get flowing a little quicker as Reef Song brings in a speed breaks tempo and beat. There a respectable variety and pacing to the album. ”Hydrodynamic,” a good way to take step back from the pounding bass drums and fast paced lifestyle, and just chill.

"Hydro" remix released and reviewed on Progressivehouse.com

Darren Flecta's "Hydro" is out now on Quimika records with 3 versions from Darren and a remix by Thee-O. Check out the review below. "Hydro" is currenty avaialble as a exclusive on Beatport Juno and other retailers

Progressivehouse.com Review:

The Thee-O Remix is solid in terms of production, with a neatly compressed bassdrum, as well as all the usual bleeps and sweeps you'd expect from a Thee-O remix. This mix should do well, perhaps off the name alone, not to mention the nice drop mid way in the mix.

"It's Like This" released and reviewed on Progressivehouse.com

"It's Like This" is out now on Quimika records and is getting a lot of great feedback. Check out the review below. "It's Like This" is currenty avaialble as a exclusive on Beatport Juno and other retailers

Progressivehouse.com Review:

Uruguay's Quimika Records and Los Angeles' DJ Thee-O team up for this monstrous release, definitely a mouthwatering prospect with the original of "It's Like This" joined by MikeE, Federico Guust, Licuadora System and Filter Cutz remixes. Thee-O has had more releases recently than the 2008 Oakland Raiders have been conceding touchdowns, believe me that's some achievement

The Original mix is a sharp track with a really smart voiced sample and a driving bassline. This mix should take grip of the dancefloor and not let go. Relentless indeed, and a really good start to the release.

Second up the MikeE Remix starts with an alternative bassdrum and some dark sweeps. This mix is definitely darker than the original with many sparse elements on show. Something for earlier on in a club set or radio mix.

Label bossman Federico Guist is up next with his interpretation of the original. This is a chunky progressive and house hybrid with a smart drop in the middle section of the track. A very solid remix indeed.
The fourth mix is the Licuadora System remix, this utilises the main vocal a little differently, making it stand alone before bringing back in the main sweeps and percussion. Again definitely a sound remix, and very usable.
The final mix is the Filter Cutz remix and this mix is a bit more progressive than tech house, unlike some of the other mixes. A nice bassline is a key component of the mix, as is an effective distorted take of vocal. Perhaps my favourite mix alongside the original.

5 mixes of quality on show here, some original ideas as well good production - definitely a recipe for success by Quimika and DJ Thee-O.
